About¶
About This Book¶
Devices of Deception began as a personal study—an attempt to understand why the modern world feels increasingly hostile to biblical truth. What emerged was a systematic examination of how the adversary's original tactics from Eden persist across every domain: technology, media, medicine, education, and culture.
This is not a book of speculation. It is a careful tracing of patterns—patterns that once recognized, cannot be unseen.
The Title¶
The title comes from 2 Corinthians 2:11:
"Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices."
The Greek word translated "devices" is noēma (νόημα)—meaning thoughts, purposes, designs, or schemes. Paul warns that ignorance of these devices gives the adversary an advantage over us.
This book aims to remove that ignorance.
The Approach¶
Every claim is grounded in Scripture first. Where evidence from the world is presented, it is offered to illustrate—not to replace—biblical truth. The goal is not to create fear, but to cultivate discernment.
Key principles guiding this work:
- Scripture is the foundation. Everything must be tested against God's Word.
- Patterns matter. The enemy is not creative; he recycles the same tactics.
- Awareness enables resistance. You cannot fight what you cannot see.
- Victory is assured. Christ has already won. We are called to stand, not to despair.
The Ecosystem¶
This book is part of a broader effort to provide resources for discerning believers:
- Bible Diff Tool — Compare Bible translations word-by-word to see what has been changed, added, or removed.
- Profanatio — A community-driven database tracking occult symbolism and profane content in media.
- Devices of Deception — This book, examining the adversary's methods across all domains.
All three projects share a common purpose: equipping believers to recognize deception in a world saturated with it.
